“a gallery for the ppl”

Building community by supporting local artists and businesses, and curating shows that are accessible and inclusive.

JO Station is a community based, non-profit art collective and gallery space in Brooklyn, NY. We curate quarterly shows that highlight local up-and-coming artists, and promote them to communities that would otherwise not be included in the traditional art world. Applications to shows are and will always free, with no commission on works sold taken by the gallery. JO Station is an unpretentious place for unpretentious artists with limited budgets who want to share their work. All of our gallery necessities are purchased locally, from hardware stories to dollar stores, bodegas to printers. These monetary and personal community connections are essential to our mission.

JO Station believes that traditional gallery and museum structures often alienate and discourage regular folx from seeing art: JO Station combats this by eliminating monetary barriers and actively reaching out to those who might not feel included in the New York City art world. By making art accessible, we build community and establish connections between local art makers and viewers. Access to art directly increases community wellbeing, and JO Station breaks the barriers that prevent the cultivation of this essential cultural capital.

Art is creative, and so is curation. JO Station takes a creative approach to running a gallery, and always puts people before profits.
